Back to School Program

This program addresses the needs of teens who face peer pressure issues as they return to school. New clothing helps teens “fit in” and is one avenue that leads to improved self esteem.

Parents submit names of their teen-aged children. We draw a certain number of lottery winners based on the amount of donations we receive from the community and/or grants. Volunteer drivers take the teens and a parent to the store of their choice to shop for new shoes and clothing. If there is leftover change, it is returned to us, along with receipts. Teens are then asked to write a note of thanks as a small attempt to instill a good habit in them. Their notes are also a way for us to communicate gratitude to donors.
