Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Giveaway
In early October, we invite low-income residents to sign-up for Thanksgiving & Christmas food. Food is for Tioga County residents. Some businesses, organizations, families and churches adopt registered families, providing food for one or both holidays. We are always looking for new organizations and families who are willing to adopt families during this special time of year! **Holiday food sign-ups are from September 3rd – 13th, 2024 due to TCRM’s move to our new location**
Nutrition Education Classes
This is a series of free nutrition education workshops, which include a cooking demonstration, recipe tasting and group discussion on practical nutrition topics like meal planning and eating healthy on a budget. These workshops are done in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County. **Due to staffing shortages at CCE we are not offering these classes at this time**
Spring Cleanup
We host a seasonal Spring Clean-up Day for seniors 60 and older living in the towns of Owego and Apalachin, offering assistance with chores like window washing, indoor housework and yard work. We engage college and high school youth along with the support of area service clubs, like Rotary, Kiwanis and the Knights of Columbus.
Soap for Hope
During the month of May each year we place bins throughout Tioga County to collect items such as toilet paper, dish soap, laundry detergent, deodorant, and toothpaste.
Back to School
This program addresses the needs of teens as they gear up for a new school year. Teens are given a budget and the opportunity to pick their own clothes and shoes at stores they want to shop at!
Easter Project for Seniors
We invite youth from area schools to create Easter cards for senior residents living at Riverview Nursing Home in Owego and Elderwood Skilled Nursing Care and Assisted Living in Waverly. Volunteers deliver the cards along with small stuffed animals. The cards from the children are always a big hit!
Mapleridge Summer Camp
In partnership with Mapleridge Summer Camp located in Tioga County, NY, we are able to offer scholarships that allow children ages 7-17 to attend one of the weeks of this sleepover camp during the Summer. Children have the opportunity to participate in many different activities like hiking, swimming, and more!
